Discover “Old Florida” on a Day Trip to Sebring

Blocked out from theme parks this summer? Don’t fret. It’s a good time to unwind and relax with your family in the quaint community of Sebring, located 90-miles south of Winter Garden. Here is an itinerary to get the most out of your day in Sebring.

Start your day off with a private airboat ride with Airboat Wildlife Adventure. The 90-minute tour led by Captain John is both entertaining and educational. Keep your cameras ready as you are sure to see gators, turtles, and more in their natural habitat. (Lifejackets are available. Tours must be paid in cash. Call head for reservations, 863-655-4737.)

Hungry yet? Head to Downtown Sebring for lunch. Faded Bistro & Beer Garden is an eclectic spot to enjoy a cold beer and a delicious lunch made from seasonal ingredients. Better yet, the garden has plenty of space for the kids to explore and burn off some energy. (Address: 420 N. Ridgewood Drive, Sebring, FL)

Next, enjoy an afternoon stroll through some of Downtown Sebring’s thrift stores and boutique shops. Don’t forget to stop in the Sebring Soda + Ice Cream Works. The shop offers over 300 varieties of bottled craft soda all without high fructose corn syrup as well as 50 premium ice cream flavors and milkshakes. (Address: 201 Circle Park Drive, Sebring, FL 33870).

On your way out of town, make sure to head by Maxwell’s Groves, an old country store that offers a sprawling front porch, for a souvenir. Perhaps a homemade jam or salad dressing. Seasonal fresh fruit also available. (Address: 607 E Circle St, Avon Park, Florida 33825).
