Thanksgiving dinner is over and you’ve somewhat recovered from your food coma and the kids are getting restless…now what? Head over to Epcot and check out our top 5 family friendly activities at the Epcot International Festival of the Holidays. The festival kicks of November 29th and runs through December 30th.
1. Living With The Land: Merry and Bright Lights
New for this year’s festival, Living With The Land has received a Christmas makeover! After the sun goes down the greenhouse area of ride glows with twinkling holiday lights! Keep an eye out for reindeer Mickey as you enjoy this special nighttime experience!
2. Meeting Anna and Elsa at Summerhus
While it’s not specifically holiday related, make sure you check out Anna and Elsa in their new outfits from Frozen 2! They looked absolutely regal when we saw them last week. Disney hasn’t announced how long they will be in these outfits so catch them while you can!
3. Chip and Dale’s Christmas Tree Spree
It’s not an Epcot festival without a scavenger hunt! This year’s holiday version features Chip and Dale as you help them collect ornaments for their Christmas tree. The scavenger hunt costs $6.99 and can be purchased at various kiosks throughout the park. Once you finish you can turn in you completed map for a small prize!
4. Cookie Stroll
Returning this year is the Cookie Stroll. Purchase all 5 cookies at the various holiday kitchens, have your passport stamped and receive a completer cookie and milk for free! This year’s cookies include a gingerbread man, peppermint pinwheel cookie, linzer cookie, chocolate crinkle cookie, black and white cookie and a Santa Mickey sugar cookie for the completer. These cookies are definitely worth sharing with the family if you plan on doing it all in one day! Otherwise, keep your passport in a safe place and complete it over a few visits.
5. Holiday Kitchens
One of the best ways to truly experience a nation’s customs and traditions is through their food! There are plenty of kid friendly eats throughout the festival’s Holiday Kitchens, including the delicious latkes that we tried from L’Chaim! Holiday Kitchen. Look for the “kid friendly” logo in the Festival Passport for ideas or try something a little out of your comfort zone!
While you’re at the Festival also be sure to check out the Family Play Zone featuring Wall-E and Eve, the Holiday Storytellers throughout the World Showcase and the Candlelight Processional (my personal favorite, although my daughter may say otherwise).
