Swim on over to your nearest theater, grab some popcorn, and sit back and enjoy The Little Mermaid! We were invited by Disney to catch a preview of The Little Mermaid at Disney Springs, and it did not disappoint.
Halle Bailey plays our favorite mermaid, with her sidekicks Sebastian (voiced by Daveed Diggs), Flounder (voiced by Jacob Tremblay), and Scuttle (voiced by Awkwafina). Ariel and her trio of friends find themselves in familiar situations with new twists and a deeper backstory in this live action remake of a Disney princess classic.
Of course, a Disney princess movie isn’t complete without a prince – and Jonah Hauer-King delights as Eric. I loved getting to know more of Eric and his family’s backstory, as it provided a depth to the film that drew me in even further!
My favorite part was the music! Of course, we heard our old favorites like “Under the Sea” and “Part of Your World”, but we also heard new songs, like the playful and fun “The Scuttlebutt” and Prince Eric’s “Wild Uncharted Waters”. Their voices were incredible, and paired with stunning visuals, the soundtrack is full of emotion and moves the plot along nicely.
Halle Bailey is fantastic as Ariel. She is beautiful, charismatic, and an incredibly talented singer. The role was made for her and I’m looking forward to seeing more of her work in the future! Young moviegoers will love the colorful world under the sea and on land, and Ariel’s sidekicks provide some comedic relief that young viewers will get a laugh out of!
We also got a sneak peek at some of the special merchandise available now from shopDisney!
If you’re visiting Walt Disney World soon, make sure to visit Walt Disney Presents at Disney’s Hollywood Studios – Ariel will be arriving here to meet with guests starting Friday, May 26! I can’t wait to take my little ones to meet her!
Stop by Amorette’s Patisserie at Disney Springs to grab this beautiful petit cake in celebration of Disney’s The Little Mermaid. It contains layers of passion fruit chiffon, coconut filling, pineapple jam, fresh kiwi, and cream cheese mousse. Available now until June 25th.
